when it ends, I hope they follow the 'Six Feet' format...

In an age where HBO series fade away, I felt more complete when Six Feet tied up the story line.

My daydream ending for Dexter's 5th season would probably revolve around upbeat. For example, Deb finds out what he does....horrified for about 15 minutes, but then clear that her love for him surpasses judgement.
No one else, including Rita would ever know. Dexter explains his late-nite escapades by telling Rita that he needs to be the best at his job, and cant do it all in the daylight hours. Its part of "his process". That his job requires him to visit a dark place within himself, and he has always been able to do the job because he has the "peace that the night can bring him."
Obviously, the writers are directing Dexter to a time when he can give up 'the dark passenger'. But in ending the story, I hope that they leave it open... something along the lines of...."For the sake of the people that I love, I CHOOSE to control the monster. But beware of your dirty dealings... or you might bring me out of retirement......."
